Penny Maddison - Artist

For many years Penny's inspiration came mainly from the wildlife of Africa, particularly birds for which she was best known. However, in recent years she has concentrated more on landscape and architectural subjects. An enduring love affair with flowers and plants finds expression in large floral paintings and occasional side trips undertaken into portraiture and still life.

Penny has specialised in traditional water colour but a love of drawing sometimes leads to work in pencil, pastel and charcoal.

After many years travelling, visiting more than 35 countries Penny returned to Perth with her family to settle in Gooseberry Hill where she has built a rammed earth studio from which to re-explore, through her art, the flora, fauna, landscape and architecture of Australia.
