She is currently engaged in studio work, occasionally visiting the local bush where she lives, to capture that thing that draws you there. Studio Thornton presents a selection of works in Oil and Watercolour by David Thornton. Although originally from the United Kingdom David Thornton now lives in Perth, Western Australia where he can indulge his love of the variety and the colour of that timeless land in his work. He has a great affinity for watercolour and began his painting career in that medium, using the freedom of the wet-in-wet technique in his landscape interpretations. When working in oils he attempts to incorporate the same freedom and his West Australian landscapes in oil, abstract works in oil and European landscapes in oil are mixtures of abstraction and realism which invite a participation in their interpretation by the viewer. He has a high regard for the value and the discipline of drawing which should underpin all painting and many of his work include elements of realism reflecting that belief.
